Good News for People Who Love Bad News

I've written a piece for Slate about Charlie Brooker's show Black Mirror (I'm a fan).

I was tipped off as to the brillance of Black Mirror right after it came out in the UK thanks to a British friend. I was startled by the lack of press on this side of the Atlantic, but happy to see someone's finally taking notice. This is a *brilliant* show. The worse that can happen is that people ignore it, or that it's cancelled. It's what this generation needs; brain candy that makes you think. And to imagine, the majority of this was written before the Snowden leaks. Can't wait to see what they'll do with it now.

I am loving Black Mirror, tho I've only seen season 2. Season 1 has been checked out at Scarecrow every time I've gone in lately. But the show is great. I especially love how the makers are not afraid to go take these stories to the edges of believability. White Bear ends yet keeps on playing out in your head. They gave just the right amount of info to keep you spooling on the logistics of what is revealed. The Waldo Moment is very entertaining. Be Right Back is creepy enough, and yet is completely subversive. So much of who we are can be replaced by technology.
